Baguio’s Waste Plastic Sorting Centre has commenced since the fourth quarter of 2021 in Yuen Long, covering about 50,000 sq. ft., with a maximum of 20 tons daily capacity. With the use of Near-Infrared (NIR) sorting technology, it is capable to sort out PET (polyethylene terephthalate or clear beverage bottles) and HDPE (high-density polyethylene or personal care bottles) plastic materials from the waste plastics collected from the local community. The sorted plastic materials will be baled and sent to local plastic recycling facilities in EcoPark (Tuen Mun) and recycled into high quality rPET and rHDPE.
